Thought field therapy for hurt1/3/2023 ![]() The client can either chose to continue tapping in an attempt to get to 1 or be satisfied with where they are. Again they rate the number and ideally it should lower significantly. Close to the end of the sequence the therapist asks the client to rate their level of distress by recalling the memory and noticing how their body feels. Throughout the tap the client is asked to breathe deep and follow the therapist. The therapist guides the client through the tapping sequence modeling for the client how to tap on themselves while the client keeps in mind their story. The goal of tapping is to get the number to go to 1. Prior to beginning the tapping sequence the individual will be asked to rate their level of discomfort from 1 to 10 (1 being none and 10 being worst). TFT is referred to as Tapping because the individual using it will need to “tap” on various parts of their face and body in a sequence as they recall the uncomfortable memory of the disturbing or traumatic event. There are tapping sequences that one can tap for a variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma or pain. I use TFT because it is fast, easy and anyone can do it anytime and anywhere once they familiarize themselves with the tapping sequences needed. It works with the bodies meridian lines targeting major organs that are said to hold various energies, ie: lungs hold sorrow, heart holds anger and so on. TFT is a blending of three modalities: acupuncture, chiropractics and psychotherapy. This approach was originated by Psychologist, Roger Callahan in the early 80’s. ![]() All I can say about TFT is that it works! It works for practically everybody… people of all ages, cultures and ethnic backgrounds…and if it doesn’t work it won’t hurt you. ![]() It is a non-traditional approach to reducing emotional overwhelm resulting from traumatic experiences. ![]() ![]() One of the favorite tools I share with clients is a simple practice called “tapping” or Though Field Therapy (TFT). ![]()
